It has become tradition to begin a season of TT@TTs with SMSG Church Band, featuring a SMSG School Music Group. The start of our 4th season of monthly twelve thirty lunchtime concerts was no exception.
SMSG Church Band played movements from Vivaldi's 'The Seasons'; Spring, Autumn and Winter.
We welcomed our guest singer, Marilyn Hopkins, who sang 'Memory' with us most beautifully.
We also had a guest pianist for the occasion, as our two resident pianists were away. A big thank you to Mrs Sue Noon for not only playing with us, but also sight-reading on the day!
The School Orchestra had been reformed for the new academic year, so with only three rehearsals, the children played 'Chinese Tune' with great confidence and then tackled the tricky rhythms of 'Balderdash Blues' by Sarah Watts. The Band joined them for a reprise of this piece.
This concert included many opportunities for the audience and the children to sing along with a couple of hymns, 'Waterloo' and finally 'I'm forever blowing bubbles'. Some of the Orchestra also had a go at playing along with the Band - great fun for all.
A splendid start to the 2017/18 season and £7.70 was added to the organ and piano maintenance fund.
