- Dave at the piano for the Musical Bite
I have been too busy this past week to blog about the first Musical Bite Coffee morning of the season which took place on 13th October. We did a Singalong with Dave K at the piano.
It was a fairly low key event compared to some of our musical bites, but was greatly enjoyed by those who attended, many of whom stayed all morning. We raised £172.75 and I'd like to thank everyone who helped in any way with this event.
Choir sings Cantare raise your voices
21 years ago the first Autumn Concert was held, only a few months after the death of a much loved musical member of our parish, John Eales, who had inspired many with his singing. Over the years the event has evolved and grown into the afternoon musical feast it is today. Originally it was Parish Singers and friends, then the parish children sang and played instruments as well, then the SMSG band was formed when many of the adult singers admitted they wanted to play their instruments too, the handbell ringers performed and most recently the SMSG school orchestra has joined the line up. The concert is always a selection of sacred and secular music, and this year's programme was themed to celebrate the joy of singing together. Two of the Eales family were musical participants in this year's concert (Pat on handbells and Peter singing Tenor and playing Trombone). The 21st Autumn Concert was held on 21st October 2012 at 3pm, with the following programme:

The concert was very well attended and a thoroughly joyful celebration of music. Refreshments and a retiring collection raised £270.91 for the organ fund. Thank you especially to Lesley and Kath for organising the entire event and doing most of the conducting, Jacob for his début of conducting the singers, Dave and Jacob for accompanying on the piano and organ, the band and the school orchestra, the handbell ringers and the children's choir for entertaining everyone, and to the people who made and served refreshments.
