Dave welcomes everyone to the concert
On Monday 2 August we were treated to the second Monthly Monday lunchtime organ concert.
This time there were three organists who are members of the Buckinghamshire Organists Association and have played the Willis in concerts before:
Brian Moseley, Peter Willett and Francis Monkman.
Brian Moseley plays Pachelbel
After playing the first piece, Brian Moseley explained he would play 2 pairs of Chorale preludes. He used the choir mutation stops which were prepared for by Willis III in 1932 but only installed in the recent restoration work in 2016.
Brian Moseley plays Bach
Brian finished with a little prelude and fugue by JS Bach.

Peter Willett plays the Willis organ
Peter Willett played five pieces:
- CV Stanford: Six Short Preludes and postludes for organ Set 1 Op. 101 No 3 Allegro non troppo
- Denis Bédard: Seven Offerings for Organ No 5 Réverie (composed for his wife in 2012)
- Dr James Healey Willan: Six Chorale Preludes No 3 (based on a melody by Orlando Gibbons: Lento e molto sustenuto)
- Caleb Semper: 17 Voluntaries for the organ Book 9 No 6 Larghetto
- Felix Mendelssohn: Six Sonatas for organ Op 65 Sonata No. 3 second movement Andante Tranquillo

Francis Monkman plays Bach
Francis Monkman played one piece:
- JS Bach: Toccata, Adagio and Fugue in C major, BWV564
Before the concert there was lunch in the form of homemade soup and a roll - this was our first concert with these refreshments in 2021.
