The 'Music for all @ SMSG' Project team decided to hold a Thank you party for the volunteers who have tirelessly helped with the organ fundraising and with Music for all @ SMSG events. On most occasions when the wider group of volunteers are involved in helping, the events are fundraisers either for the organ, the disabled access fund or for charities or causes. Everyone rolls up their sleeves and works hard to make sure events run smoothly.
For this party we didn't want any of the volunteers to bake a cake or serve refreshments or move furniture as we wanted to give everyone a chance to just sit and enjoy each others company in the beautiful surroundings of Nina's lovely garden. It was a Pimms and Strawberries event and only one person baked anything (Lesley, who organised all the refreshments), only a few people had chairs and tables to move (from the Parish Hall to Nina's garden and back again) and only 3 people served refreshments (Nina, Lesley and May).
I gave a speech (which is attached to his post) during the afternoon followed by a short thank you speech by Fr Ross. I reminded everyone just how much we have achieved since we started fundraising in 2006 and since the Heritage Lottery project began in 2014.
We were blessed with glorious weather on the day and everyone had a happy time celebrating the success of our pipe organ fundraising and the Music for all at SMSG programme.
