There were early visitors on 15th June for the June TT@TT – we are always pleased to welcome those who come in awaiting the start of the concert – we are happy to provide a brew! Then 73 children from our Church School arrived and the place was buzzing.
The small choir, who had been invited to sing in an opera at Stowe School got the concert underway with the Children’s Chorus from Carmen. It was a very demanding piece of music and was sung beautifully.
Next came the first of two Rock Bands that have evolved this academic year. A line-up of drums, percussion, guitar, piano, trumpet and vocals gave their first public performance of ‘Sweet home Alabama’.
In contrast the South Site Belleplate Group and North Site Handbell Ringers gave separate and combined renditions of ‘A Peal of Bells’, followed by ‘All that I am’ and ‘Scarlet Ribbons’. It was good to see and hear the growing skill and confidence of these groups.
The second Rock Band presented themselves very well also with a confident performance – with an impressive line up of six vocalists!
The combined school choir finished the concert with an insight into ‘singing assemblies’ and the chorus ‘Happy We!’ from the recently performed opera of ‘Acis and Galatea’.
All in all, it was a lunchtime of great musical ability and enthusiasm and joy.
It was a pleasure to be present to watch our young people share what they love doing. Thanks must also go to the staff who encourage them to flourish.
All the cakes were eaten this month! Donations of £35.07 as gratefully received for the organ fund and church general fund.
