Jacob at the organ

Jacob at the organ

On the 15th a dull December day was brightened by an excellent Lunchtime Concert.

With tea brewing and chairs turned, we welcomed 55 people of all ages to hear Jacob Collins play the Fr Willis Organ.

Jacob has returned after his first term at University in London and he gave us a treat!

We laughed and cried, were uplifted and calmed. There was a medley of sea shanties, including the Blue Peter theme tune, variations on O Come All Ye Faithful and Good King Wenceslas and the majestic Crown Imperial and Pomp and Circumstance.

Jacob’s explanations of the music added to the enjoyment and everyone left with a spring in their step and a smile on their face. To quote one member of the audience, it was “absolutely fabulous!”

Thank you Jacob for bringing us great variety of music, none of which was originally scored for the organ, and for the skill with which it was played. Thank you to our volunteers for doing all the other jobs to make this happen!

£70.85 was kindly donated for the upkeep of the organ. We look forward to the first TT@TT of 2017 on Thursday, 19th January, when Fadin’ Shoes make a return visit.
