A grey dull Saturday morning was considerably brightened by The Guild Singers, a local all-female choir, giving a mini concert during our first Musical Bite Coffee morning of the 2013/14 season. The coffee morning started as usual at 10:00 am and the singing started at 11:00am.
The singers performed several lovely pieces and there were solo and reading items as well:
Lift up your voice
We've only just begun
Where the Gentle Avon Flows
The Thrush Ann (solo)
Alto Lament Alison (reading)
I want two wings
Church Mouse Barbara (reading)
World in Union Angie (solo)
American Folk Rhapsody
A Chorale Flourish
We had a good collection of cakes which steadily depleted throughout the morning and after the choir had finished singing they had a late rush to get the remainder of the refreshments.
This event raised £207.21 for the organ fund. I would like to thank Nuala Clarkson who conducted the singers and Doreen Griffin who accompanied them as well as all those who performed. It was a lovely concert and we look forward to welcoming the choir back to the church for a full length evening concert in the near future.
I would also like to thank everyone who donated cakes and all the team who served the refreshments, sold raffle tickets and bric a brac and especially Dai who organised this event so well.
