I'm a little late blogging about the Tea Dance which the church band did for the organ fund on Sunday afternoon (I've been busy with home improvements and my full-time job). I like to get these events recorded as soon as possible.

The Tea Dance took place in Pottersbury Village hall as St Mary & St Giles school hall wasn't available on the 10th (our new church hall isn't large enough for the band and the dancers). 50 people bought tickets in advance and a raffle was also organised, with most of the refreshments provided by Lesley, whose baking is legendary! 17 members of the band were able to play, and we were pleased to welcome back David and Shirley from their long voyage, they took the opportunity to dance one of the dances rather than play in the band, though apparently missed the motion of the ship on the high seas!

Lesley had prepared a varied programme of music to fit the dances, in some cases this meant repeating sections to make the right number of bars. We only played one piece a little too fast for the dancers (La Bamba) but for the rest the dancers were very happy with the choice of music and dances.  Feedback from those who danced which Lesley reported to us afterwards included The music is fantastic! and Bill Haley's not as good as all of you!

At this event the band raised £205.10 for the organ fund which is a wonderful total.  I would like to especially thank Lesley for organising everything, the band for playing and the dancers for their enthusiasm.
