Music for All @SMSG ended StonyLive 2017 with a music and cream tea afternoon in the church. The audience started arriving at 2pm and 'Strike up the Band' got the concert underway at 2.30pm. Many people enjoyed cream teas and cake throughout the afternoon, some staying a short while en route to and from other venues, while some chose to stay until the end. A beautiful sunny afternoon meant we could open all the doors to welcome people in, as the music drifted out onto the High Street and Market Square.
While The Band had a well deserved cream tea break, Susan Chappell played 4 Chopin studies on the grand piano, much to the delight of all those who heard her. She followed this with two pieces by Brahms and we look forward to her return in a few months time to play for us again.
The Band ended the afternoon with the appropriately named 'Bring me Sunshine' and a reprise of 'The James Bond Theme' and 'Coronation Street'.
Grateful thanks to all who played, served Teas and helped in any way and of course to our visitors, who came to share the afternoon with us.
£173.31 was raised for the Disabled Access Project and £5 for our organ maintenance fund.
