Concrete Calves play for StonyLive

Concrete Calves play for StonyLive

We were delighted to welcome Concrete Calves Wind Band for the first time to SMSG, as part of our StonyLive! programme on Saturday 8th June.

The Band was founded 5 years ago by Trish Evans to give adults learning a new instrument or returning to their instrument a chance to play with other adults who were all at or below Grade V standard.  The original group of 6 has now become 21 and encouraged complete beginners and ‘lapsed’ players to play together, giving inspiration, tuition, experience and confidence.

There was a great variety of music from Bach to John Williams and Mozart to Joe Garland. All pieces were played with great enthusiasm and the sound was impressive.  The group clearly enjoys their music making and we very much enjoyed their performance. We hope they will come again and share their growing repertoire with Music for All at SMSG.

£110.65 was kindly donated for our Disabled Access Project.
