The Tea Dance this afternoon went with a real swing and proved to be a very good fundraiser. One of the great things was that many of the dancers came from other parts of Milton Keynes, which meant we were getting funds for the organ from beyond the immediate parish.
We had a willing band of people transporting cups, saucers and plates from the church to the school (and back again afterwards), setting out the tables and chairs, cakes, tea, coffee and raffle, and the band were all set up and ready by 4pm. Several ticket holders arrived early. We had a varied programme of music for people to dance to and a refreshment and raffle break in the middle. It was a very warm afternoon, so we opened the back door to the hall at half time. I managed to take a few photos during Hernando (20 bar rest) but after that asked Kieran to use my camera to capture the event. It is not a great camera, so the quality shows the movement!
Lesley was delighted to announce to all the band members later that we succeeded in raising £294 in total, which is a wonderful amount from 55 dancers who seem keen for us to play for them again. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success, especially Lesley without whom it would not have been possible (band, hall booking, all the baking, selling tickets, etc).
