The organ fund website has definitely been worth setting up as it has provided information about the organ and the appeal to people who visit it, as well has the events listing. About a year ago a young organist completed the Contact form which comes to my mailbox. He offered to play a recital on our Willis organ to help raise funds. The date has been arranged for ages, and I am pleased to draw your attention to the recital in St Mary & St Giles Church on 25th September 2010 at 7.30 pm by Laurence Caldecote. His programme includes works by Bach, Wesley, Ireland, Widor, Darke and his own composition.
Laurence was born in Aylesbury, and now lives in Coventry. He has played the piano and organ from an early age. He studies the Organ with Kerry Beaumont, (Director of Music at Coventry Cathedral) and is currently Organ Scholar at St. Nicolas Parish Church, Nuneaton. Laurence has assisted Tim Campain (Director of Music at Warwick Road URC Coventry) in accompanying visiting choirs for services at various Cathedrals around the country and has given recitals at numerous venues around the UK including the Anglican Cathedrals of Bradford, Bristol, Birmingham, Chester, Liverpool and Sheffield, as well as Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral and Christchurch Priory.
Everyone is welcome to this recital, there is a retiring collection for the organ fund, and refreshments will be available at the end.
