We’ve held a wonderful variety of musical and other events at SMSG since the end of November. The Christmas Fayre on Stony Lights Switch 30th November (the day before Advent began) included wall to wall music as three local schools (St Mary & St Giles CE Junior, Russell Street First and Queen Eleanor Combined) provided choirs and hand bell ringers, with SMSG church band filling in the spaces between the schools with lots of Christmas music. This event brought plenty of people into the church all day, The Golden Spot Tombola (in memory of Sylvia) for the organ fund raised a magnificent £703.32 and all the other stalls, refreshments and model railway raised £1,758 for the Church Disabled Access Fund.

A big thank you to Kath and Nina for organizing the Golden Spot Tombola and to everyone who donated the magnificent prizes.

On Saturday 6th December MK Acapella held their annual concert which went very well and they sent a donation of £150 which together with the refreshments made a total of £206.50 for the organ fund from this concert. We received the following message from MK Acapella:

“we had a lot great comments about all the acts and how lovely some of the Christmas songs were. As always the Thornton girls were enchanting and it was great to get the young lads over from Caroline Chisholm School for some very original a capella ... many thanks to you & the other people who helped out on the night"

You can see photos of the concert on their Facebook album (we weren’t able to provide a photographer or blogger that night as our usual blogging crew was playing with SMSG church band in Pottersbury).

A big thank you to Dai and Jeff for helping front of house at this concert as the rest of the Music for all at SMSG team were elsewhere.
