A pleasant evening welcomed a large audience to St Mary and St Giles church to listen to a concert given by Milton Keynes Sinfonia, who performed a programme of three works:
Brandenburg Concerto No 6 in B flat major BWW1057
Stravinsky Danses Concertanes
Schubert Symphony No 5 in B flat major D485
The evening started with a welcome from Kieran who introduced David Knight, the conductor of MK Sinfonia. David gave a brief talk about the evening's performance.
Bach's Brandenburg concerto BWW 1057 arranged for harpsichord and strings in three movements, was first, with David Knight on keyboard. This was followed by Stravinsky Danses Concertantes, a composition in 5 movement, which took us up to the interval when refreshments were available for all.
After the interval David introduced the final piece of the evening, Schubert's Symphony No 5 in B flat major D485. Applause from the very appreciative audience brought the concert to a close, Lesley thanked the orchestra and invited them to come back to perform for us again. Thanks were also given to all those who helped make the evening a great success.
Feedback from people who came showed that the friendly atmosphere of the church from those taking part, along with the audience and helpers, made this a very enjoyable concert from MK Sinfonia and we look forward to them coming again in the future.
