Musical Bite 2 was a joyful repeat of last year's successful 'Sing-along-a-lorra-songs'. Our first eager participant arrived 10 minutes before we were due to start, however fortunately refreshments were ready, and shortly afterwards more people arrived, did the piano key raffle, grabbed their cappuccino/tea/coffee and cake and started to join singing to Dave or Andrew playing various songs on the piano. The words were all projected by Ray onto a big screen from his laptop, and when occasionally the words didn't match quite what people expected, this was cause for much amusement.
All morning we had a steady stream of people come to join in, though some stayed all the time. We think that at any one time, there were about 35 - 40 people partaking of the self made entertainment which consisted of a variety of old time musical hall songs, favourites from the musicals and films. A certain churchwarden thoroughly enjoyed singing lustily along to the songs he knew, and I spotted some groups of people doing actions to songs or swaying to the music.
As always, Shirley, Fiona and Heather did a star job serving refreshments, Marion and Sylvia took care of the the very popular piano key raffle and David and Dai did lots of different front of house jobs whilst Kieran switched on the heating and helped them. Dave and Andrew kept the piano keys tinkling all morning whilst Ray and Jenny made sure the technology for the words was working. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Musical Bite today, we raised a wonderful £281.40 towards the grand piano fund, which means we have paid off 79% and only have £1,042.61 to go!
