Our 2 remaining Musical bites of this season give more opportunities for you to get involved in making music and enjoying delicious refreshments, whilst helping us raise funds for the pipe organ refurbishment.
On Saturday 19th February you can join the church band with your musical instrument. Our band has a reputation for encouraging newcomers (even those lacking confidence) to give ensemble music-making a try. We already have several people coming along to swell our ranks, and Lesley is sure we can accommodate more so if you've got an instrument lurking in your house and would like to join the band for the morning please contact Lesley via the contact form on the website. We'll be playing easy music (some of which is already in the band repertoire, some of which is new to us) and it is sure to be good fun.
On Saturday 19th March John Gates of The Open Band and Secklow Brass is running a Beginners Jazz workshop. About 3 years ago he came to one of our band rehearsals and we did Jazz for the evening, which for some of us was a first, for others playing Jazz was very familiar. If you are interested in trying this out, please do get in touch via the contact form, as John would like to know how many people are coming and whether they'll be bringing an instrument or using their voice to sing jazz. I'm looking forward to playing Jazz music again at this event and I'm sure I'm not the only one. Apparently we'll be playing a simple big band arrangement and developing a jazz piece from just a head sheet.
The music making will take place in the church, whilst refreshments will be served in the new Parish Hall.
