The final musical bite of the 2012/13 winter season was a Flute Fiesta given by 5 pupils of local teacher Frances Thornton. The weather outside was foul, however that didn’t stop the people who did brave the rain from enjoying themselves as they ate cake and listened to the musicians, who included two children and three adults. Two of the adults (Helen and Alison) played flute duets, the other adult (Peter) played solos, and the children, Kaushal and Olivia, played solos. The piano was used by Alison, and Helen also sang towards the end of the two hours. Altogether it was a very pleasant way to spend a rainy morning and I would like to thank all the flautists for a lovely selection of music (ranging from beginner to fairly complicated) all two hours. Kaushal, who had left his sheet music at home, played all his grade 5 pieces from memory.
The refreshment team did a wonderful job all morning keeping the cups filled and cake supplied to everyone who came, and the tidying away afterwards was done really quickly. We raised £80.95 for the organ fund from this event, so a big thank you to everyone who helped.
