What a great morning. Maurice and Maria Clark of Stony Stratford's 'The Song Loft' introduced folk music in our church to an appreciative group of participants and shoppers who had come in for refreshment. Our last Musical Bite Coffee morning of the season was a relaxed and happy success on a glorious spring day (the weather was so different from a month ago when we all shivered with fresh snow outside). This meant we could have the street door open as an additional entrance, where Dave K stood with a tray of cake and tea to entice people in for a while.
Maurice told the story of folk music interspersed with songs, which everyone joined in. Maria lead the singing while Maurice played his guitar. We had a steady stream of people come into the church to listen (and eat cake) and at noon all the songs which had been covered during the morning were reprised in a mini concert.
Fiona, Kath, Jean, David S and Nina ran the refreshments, Sylvia, Dave, Dai and I ran the raffle, with Lesley and Kieran helping in various ways. I'd like to thank everyone who baked cakes and contributed raffle prizes as well as all those who helped with setting up and tidying up, what great teamwork. We raised £270.14 for the organ fund from this event which was a good way to finish the 2011-12 Musical Bite season. Our next event for the organ fund is the Choral Day on 14th April - sign up now if you'd like to sing as it promises to be a really special musical day.
