Today Frances Thornton and Kirsty Morris Selley gave a lunchtime recital in St Mary & St Giles Church for the organ fund, as the Enigma Duo. They played the piano, flute and sang to entertain us for 30 minutes.
They chose musical by Ludovico Einaudi and Yann Tiersen, both modern composers. They started with 3 songs by Tiersen, sung by Kirsty and accompanied on piano by Frances, then followed this with 5 pieces by Einaudi this time with Kirsty playing piano and Frances playing her flute. It was very relaxing, atmospheric music, perfect for a warming up summer lunchtime (yes, there was real sunshine outside!).
We served tea, coffee and some cakes & flapjacks, some people brought their lunch to eat as they enjoyed the music.
The retiring collection and refreshments raised £66.07 plus gift aid for the organ fund which was a lovely bonus (£25 was gift aided which should bring the total to over £70). I would like to thank Frances and Kirsty for offering their talents to entertain us, everyone who helped by baking and serving refreshments and the appreciative audience. We're looking forward to the Schubertiard Concert Kirsty, Frances and friends are giving on 13th October.
