Despite the Men’s final at Wimbledon, the Grand Prix, the Cricket World Cup and a myriad of other events, both local and national, a good crowd arrived at St Mary & St Giles Church for a cream tea on Sunday 14 July while they listened to SMSG Church Band. You might not have been able to hear the sound of leather on willow, but jolly tunes and good conversation abounded and even the occasional ‘teaspoon on mug’ audience-improvised percussion accompaniment!

We had an impromptu rendition of ‘Happy Birthday’ for one visitor and the Band also played a great variety of music from The Teddy Bears’ Picnic to The Stripper, from Magic Moments to Match of the Day.

A big thank you to all those who helped in the kitchen and those who just gone on with the many other unseen, but nonetheless vital jobs that go into putting on events such as these. We are blessed with extremely supportive volunteers and audiences alike - THANK YOU. This afternoon also raised over £96 for our Disabled Access Project, but most importantly it was a fun occasion for all present.
