This year on August Bank Holiday Monday the organ fund team served cream teas in the Parish Hall. We had been unable to find performers to make it a musical event in the church as every group we asked had other engagements. We decided to go ahead with the refreshments anyway which was a good decision as there were plenty of people about in the High street and church street because of the town fayre on Horsefair Green and the glorious weather.

Several people provided delicious scones and team of helpers set up, served, washed up and tidied everything away afterwards. The turnout of hungry people was so good that within 10 minutes of the doors officially opening at 3pm we put more tables and chairs on the grass outside the parish hall as the weather was beautiful. And they kept coming so the team was kept busy plating up 2 scones, cream and jam for most of the 2 hours.

I would like to thank Dai, May, Andrea, Jean, Nina, Jenny, Kath, Tricia and two children for all their help and all the scone makers - we didn't run out. We raised a magnificent £318.60 for the organ fund.
