Music for All @ SMSG (or MfA for short!) is run by an informal group of volunteers who are passionate about music, its importance in our daily lives, and its impact on wellbeing. Some of us are worshippers; some of us are not. What unites is a belief in the power of music to inspire, to soothe, to lift the spirits.
Music for All @ SMSG grew out of the ‘Pipe Organ Restoration Action Group’ set up in 2006 with a dual remit to raise awareness of the importance of the organ and to raise funds for its restoration. This was achieved largely through musical events which have evolved into the programme we run today.
The restoration of the organ, and the associated music and education programmes, are managed by a volunteer Heritage Lottery Fund Project Team, headed by Anna Page, who has also led the research into the organ’s history.
The Learning programme is being developed under the leadership of Lesley Salter.
The Events programme is developed and run by a team of volunteers co-ordinated by Lesley Salter.
