We held an organ fund coffee morning on 3 December in the Parish Hall.
Instead of the usual layout of separate chairs and tables we all gathered around one big table as we chatted and ate cake. We found this included visitors to the church in the general conversations so we might try this layout again sometime at one of our organ fund coffee mornings.
We also had a display of photos from some of the event highlights of 2016 including the inaugural concerts, the organ festival, the Queen's 90th birthday flower festival concerts and the Come & Sing day to remind everyone just how much we have done this year.
We raised just over £40 for the organ fund at this event.
In the evening SMSG church band and handbell ringers did their biannual Christmas concert in Potterspury URC church a few miles up the road. This is always a fun concert as the musicians get festive with headgear and there is audience participation when Lesley hands out bells and shakers for some of the pieces.
There was a raffle and an interval with tea, coffee and mince pies.
The concert was a fundraiser for their church and the musicians played for free as musical outreach for Music for all @ SMSG, so we were delighted to receive a thank you letter a few days later with a cheque towards the maintenance of the Willis organ which will be recorded as a pipe dedication to Potterspury URC.
